Frequently Asked Questions

About Your Spray Tan

Will the spray tan turn orange?

It’s possible, but only under a few specific conditions. Here’s how we avoid that:

  • Poor-quality sunless solution – Not an issue here! I use only premium products for a natural, even tan.

  • Choosing a shade too dark for your skin tone – Together, we'll choose a shade that complements your unique complexion.

  • Leaving the solution on too long – I’ll provide exact instructions on when to rinse off for the best results.

How long does the appointment take?

Typically, your spray tan appointment will last 15 to 30 minutes. Quick and easy!

Can I get a spray tan if I have a sunburn?

I’d love to say yes, but it’s best to wait until your skin is fully healed. A sunburn means your skin needs extra care. Please wait until the heat is gone and there’s no peeling.

After a sunburn: Hydrate, cool the skin with compresses, and use aloe and moisturizer. Only proceed with a spray tan once your skin has fully healed.

How long after a sunburn can I get a spray tan?

Once the heat has completely subsided and there’s no risk of peeling, you’re good to go!

What do I wear during my spray tan?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in! Here are a few options:

  • A swimsuit

  • Underwear

  • Just bottoms (or nothing at all!)

Every client is different, so choose what makes you feel relaxed and comfortable.

Is the spray tan applied by a machine?

No! Every spray tan is hand-applied by me—an experienced, licensed esthetician. No machines or booths here!

Will the spray tan stain my clothes?

The solution typically doesn’t stain, but temporary discoloration may occur—especially if you wear lighter-colored clothing or a swimsuit during your session.

Tip: Wash any clothing worn during the tan as soon as possible to prevent potential staining.

How old do I have to be to get a spray tan?

There is no age limit, but if you are under 18, a parent or guardian must sign a consent form before your appointment.

What should I do before and after my spray tan?

Before:

  • Exfoliate 2–3 days before your appointment.

  • Shave or wax the day before.

  • Arrive with clean, dry skin (no lotions, makeup, deodorant, or sunscreen).

After:

  • Avoid sweating or heavy activity for 2 to 12 hours (based on the solution used).

  • Follow the rinse instructions I provide.

  • Moisturize daily to keep your tan looking fresh.

How long does the spray tan last?

Your tan will last 5 to 10 days, depending on your skin and how well you maintain it. The key to a longer-lasting glow is keeping your skin hydrated. Moisturizing regularly helps to prevent your tan from fading too quickly.
